Ufo Eric-Atuanya is a distinguished executive with over 30 years of experience in international business development, trade, finance, foreign direct investment and policy making. His career spans both the public and private sectors, where he has driven transformative projects, particularly in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean with a focus on market expansion and strategic partnerships. 

Most recently, Ufo served as Senior Vice President for Global Business Development at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), leading initiatives in renewable energy, critical minerals, and digital technology. He secured over $10 billion in investments for projects in sub-Saharan Africa, including a historic $2.1 billion commitment for solar energy systems and minigrids in Angola. Ufo also launched a global finance forum dedicated to risk mitigation and financing transformational energy solutions in target markets. 

Ufo's career is marked by his ability to foster strategic partnerships and navigate complex international landscapes. He played a key role in U.S. energy dialogues with Angola, Nigeria, Bahrain, Iraq and Montenegro, advancing financing for renewable energy projects that support both economic and environmental goals. Representing EXIM at international forums, Ufo advocated for U.S. involvement in scaling global transformation industries. 

Previously, Ufo founded Rimsom Associates, where he led consultancy efforts in capacity building and transnational deals across Africa and Asia. Most notably he facilitated a strategic collaboration between the Presidents of Nigeria, Senegal and the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to develop a framework for transport infrastructure within the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD). He also served as Senior Advisor to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and spearheaded impactful social and entrepreneurial initiatives for the Ogwumike Foundation in Nigeria, Kenya, and Rwanda. 

Ufo’s expertise also extends to the highest levels of U.S. government and global policy development, where he has served as Senior Policy Adviser on International Trade to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and also as Trade Counsel to the Chairman of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee.  

Ufo holds a J.D. from American University College of Law and a B.S. in Political Science and Economics from the Weber State University, Ogden, Utah. He is a founding board member of the Tahirih Justice Center, dedicated to immigrant protection, and the founder of the 40 Under 40 Nigeria program, which mentors young Nigerian leaders.
