Meet Linda
With over 28 years of experience in higher education, Linda Battles knew that it would be nearly impossible to grow further in her career without a doctoral degree.
As a longtime Longhorn, she looked to her alma mater for programs that spoke to her interests, matched her goals and fit her busy schedule.
"I want to be that role model for other Latinas and encourage them to get their doctorate."

Taking the Next Steps
Linda has always aspired to earn her doctorate. With a demanding role as Regional Vice President for Western Governors University and Chancellor of WGU Texas, she knew a traditional program that takes 5-7 years wouldn't work for her.
Finding the Right Program
Linda first learned about UT Austin's Executive Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership Program in 2019 when she was invited as a guest speaker.
Because of the focus of the program and the comparatively short timeline of 30-36 months, she knew it was her first and only choice.
Looking to the Future
Currently enrolled in the 2021 cohort, Linda is projected to graduate in 2024.
"I am one of the very few Latinas in higher education. In order to really bring about...a more equitable higher education system, we need to be represented."
-Linda Battles, October 31, 2022
