Meet Connie
Connie Arbore-Aguiar stepped away from the workforce for more than a decade to care for a sick loved one, deal with some medical issues of her own and raise her young daughter. As a former educator, she did not want to return to teaching and worried the gap in her resume would make finding employment a challenge.
She knew she needed to distinguish herself in the applicant pool, and going back to school would do just that.
"I went back to school in my 50s, and it was the best thing I did."

Choosing the Right Program
Eager to return to the workforce, Connie sought out a program that would equip her with practical skills and provide an opportunity to gain real experience.
When she found the Center for Professional Education's Paralegal Certificate Program, she knew it was exactly what she needed.
Earning the Certificate
In addition to building the foundational knowledge and skills every paralegal needs, the five-month program prepares graduates for navigating the job market and finding employment.
Three months into the program, one of the instructors recommended her for a position at a local law firm.
Finding Footing in a New Field
Connie was hired by Bonilla Law Firm two months before she earned her certificate and works there today helping people get the legal services they need.
"I stepped out into the unknown.... Going back to school just gave me the leg up I needed to close that gap."
